3 minute read

Melbourne Storm are back in action after a bye week and will be desperate to return to winning ways against Newcastle Knights.

The Storm went down by six points against Manly Sea Eagles last time out, suffering just their third defeat of the season, but are still top of the NRL ladder.

Craig Bellamy's side can be backed at 7.50 to win the 2024 grand final and they will be keen to get the season back on track.

The Knights are down in 12th spot on the ladder and have some work to do if they are to play finals this season.

They are priced at 5.00 to make the top eight, but there will need to be a big improvement on the performance they put in against the Western Bulldogs last week.

Newcastle need to respond, but it does not get much tougher than a trip to Melbourne to take on the Storm.

Duo return to boost Storm

State of Origin stars Harry Grant and Xavier Coates have been named to play as the Storm look to see off Newcastle on Sunday afternoon.

The duo should still be buzzing after Queensland's win over New South Wales in game one, and look set to back-up against the Knights.

The Storm have tough away trips against the Warriors and Dolphins up next, so it is important they pick up two points on home soil.

They have won 15 out of the last 17 games on home soil and can be backed at 1.91 to beat the Knights by 13+ points.

Coates also enjoys playing at AAMI Park, where he has scored 28 tries in 23 games and the winger can be backed at 6.00 to score the first try of the game or 1.62 to score at anytime.

Second rower Eliesa Katoa has also hit a purple patch of form by scoring a try in each of the last three matches and he can be backed at 2.70 to keep the run going by scoring a try at anytime in this game.

Lack of creativity costs Knights

The Knights were poor to say the very least as they lost 32-2 on home turf against the Bulldogs in their last game.

The defeat saw them slip out of the top eight and coach Adam O'Brien will be demanding a response in Melbourne.

A lack of creativity was an issue against the Bulldogs and they will attempt to put that right against the Storm.

They do have a good record against the Storm when winning the last two games, 14-12 and 26-18.

However, both were at McDonald Jones Stadium and a trip to AAMI Park is a different kettle of fish, as they have not won in Melbourne since 2015.

Even so, they can be backed at 6.50 to cause an upset and win by 6-10 points.

Greg Marzhew will be a threat and the winger can be backed at 2.30 to score a try at anytime.
