Gai Waterhouse-trained runners dominated the finish of the Magic Millions 2YO Classic at the Gold Coast this afternoon.
In a highly controversial finish, Driefontein, the race favourite was awarded the race in the stewards room after finishing second across the line to stablemate No Looking Back.
No Looking Back was first past the post but drifted out in the straight after following the rails through and impeded Driefontein. Stewards deemed that it was enough to reverse the result.
Punters warmed to Driefontein throughout Magic Millions betting in the weeks leading into today's feature, and one punter stepped in today with a bet of $10,000 @ $3.50.
No Looking Back, however, was backed in from $13 into $10 late in betting and its supporters would be ruing their luck, having lost the race in the stewards room
Alezan Thunder finished third after being on the pace throughout.
