3 minute read

Racing and Sports finds the best-backed runners in early betting on Thursday’s meeting at Beaumont.

Track: Good 4. Rail: True. First race: 12.00pm

Kelvinside (Race3) has firmed almost two full points in early betting to odds of just under $5. He has few key gear changes including winkers on and Brenton Avdulla goes on for the first time. The Avdulla-Patrick Webster combination is currently striking at 33 per cent.

Faith In Beers (Race 4) is a first starter but the market has given an indication of expectations, halving his opening quote of close to double figures. The inside gate is an advantage for a debutante and will be well-educated after three trials.

Parraay (Race 6) is the highest-rated runner on last start figures and has firmed a point to around $5.50. She is a barrier trial winner since her last run at Rosehill and the Kris Lees-Andrew Adkins combination is striking at 29 per cent.

Oxford Art (Race 8) has almost halved its early quote to take over favouritism at odds of around $3.40. Her trainer Kim Waugh has a 30 per cent strike rate with favourites and is also striking at an impressive 56 per cent on the Beaumont track.
