The Money Trail – Doomben, Wednesday June 15

3 minute read

Racing and Sports finds the best-backed runners in early betting on Wednesday’s meeting at Doomben.

Track: Soft 6

Rail: Out 10m Entire Course

First race: 12.53pm

Heavenly Glass (Race 1) has been the only runner in this race to firm in early betting, coming in several points to $5. She runs for the successful combination of jockey Brooke Stower and trainer Julie Anderson, who strike together at 36 per cent.

Captain Eyche (Race 4) has had his early quote slashed to $4.80 after opening well into double figures. He toughed out a good maiden win at this track last start and although stepping straight to a class 3 the punters are looking for him to lift again third up from a spell.

Hesitation (Race 5) has taken over as a $3.10 favourite after firming about a dollar since markets opened. Apart from his run when outclassed in the Gold Coast Guineas, his form this time has been strong and although beaten as an easing favourite last time the money suggests he is ready to make amends with the step up in trip.

Sammi Jain (Race 7) is back from Saturday company at her three runs so far this campaign and the class drop has caught attention of punters, backing her into favouritism at $4.20, a move of more than a point-and-a-half. Placed at her only previous try on a soft track, she steps up to 1200m today and has a sound record at the distance.
