The Money Trail – Canberra, Friday June 24

3 minute read

Racing and Sports finds the best-backed runners in early betting on Friday’s meeting at Canberra.

Track: Heavy 10

Rail: True

First race: 11.50pm

Timing (Race 2) opened as favourite but since then has only strengthened his market domination at $2.50 having firmed more than a half point. Trained in Sydney by Joe Pride, he was beaten less than 2L when resuming at Gosford and is expected to appreciate the ACT company with a run under his belt.

Cilla (Race 3) opened as the second favourite but steady support has seen her take over at the head of the market at $2.70. She was outclassed in Sydney last start but was a dominant 4.5L winner in heavy going at this track before that and she is expected to relish the muddy conditions again.

Yasnat (Race 7) was a dominant winner at this track last start in her first outing for Matthew Dale and the market suggests she can maintain her unbeaten record for the stable. Continued support has seen her quote trim up to $2.20 fixed odds with TopBetta. Her win by 5.3 lengths was on a heavy 10 surface and she gets similar conditions today.
