TRIAL WATCH – Randwick March 7/Warwick Farm March 9

3 minute read

Chris Scholtz reviews the trials at Randwick on March 7 and Warwick Farm on March 9.

The Randwick set had been postponed from the previous Friday. Both sets were run on affected ground.

RANDWICK MARCH 7

BLACKBOOKERS: HONEYWINE; RUSSIAN REVOLUTION; RAIMENT; BRIGADON RISE; SOOTHING; ZEEHAN; ZONK; TEMPT ME NOT; SPENCER; SMARTEDGE; BLOWING KISSES; GIBRALTAR GIRL.

HONEYWINE: Worked to the line strongly in a 1200m heat won by the classy First Seal. Good stayer in the making.

RUSSIAN REVOLUTION: Dominated a classy heat and looks in great shape to produce big effort first-up.

RAIMENT: Worked to the line best behind Russian Revolution for second while her big gun stablemate Astern was an easy fifth. Strong trial form.

BRIGADOON RISE: Had plenty to offer finishing second in her 1050m heat after tracking three wide. Godolphin trio Non Pareil, Fanfaron and Dissolute did it within themselves behind her.

SOOTHING: Winner Sheikha ran fast time but Soothing was the eye catcher finishing second. Another good Godolphin youngster.

ZEEHAN: Smothered away at the finish without being tested. Watch first-up.

ZONK: Hard to miss big finish from last. Looks talented.

TEMPT ME NOT: Cruised through her trial for impressive win in fast time. Should be ready first-up.

SPENCER/SMARTTEDGE: Spencer surged late for impressive win while Smartedge was the hitting the line late like a god horse. Confident this is good 2YO form.

BLOWING KISSES: Showed her class late to win in fast time from off the pace. We know she has talent.

GIBRALTAR GIRL: Given an easy time behind Blowing Kisses. Big watch first-up.

WARWICK FARM MARCH 9

BLACKBOOKERS: TACTICAL ADVANTAGE; LAZYAXL; TARGET IN SIGHT; SERENA BAY; DEBONAIRLY; DEMOLITION; PARTYHOUSE.

TACTICAL ADVANTAGE: Another strong trial win shows he’s holding his form in great style. Fiftyshadesofgrey and Just WIlliam did enough behind him to merit a mention.

LAZYAXL: Led easily, tracked wide and won with plenty in hand over the G1 winner Rebel Dane. Have to respect the form. Rebvel Dane and Vanbrugh were good efforts.

TARGET IN SIGHT: Quality sprinter charged late from last for impressive third. Obviously going well.

SERENA BAY: Flying in her trials. Very impressive last 50 metres and obviously set for a kill over the carnival.

DEBONAIRLY: Put the time on the board when she opened up last 200m for a big win. Certain winner.

DEMOLITION: Fastest of all the heat winners over 807m underlines his well being. Went to the line with plenty left.

PARTYHOUSE: Always three and four wide but had them well covered and extended to win by a big space. Talent.
