Early Mail and Blackbook File for racing on June 13.

Two Blue Picture: Racing and Sports

ROSEHILL SATURDAY

RACE 2 (4) BETTER NOT BLUE: He’s only had the eight starts for two wins and three placings so don’t be too harsh on his sound last start fourth over 1400m at Randwick on May 23 when racing on an extreme heavy track. Should have this field covered if he produces the form that saw him finish an unlucky fourth in the classy Gold Coast Guineas over this trip at his previous start when having his first start since January. Placed at only start this track and drawn to tuck up behind the pace and sprint over the top of them at the finish.

RACE 4 (7) MIRAGE: He’s got some tricks but a subsequent seven lengths barrier trial win has this much-travelled Hong Kong winner set to make amends for his last start second at Randwick when he threw the race away with his wayward running over the last 100m. He also has gear changes with the blinkers off and a nose roll on. It may be the last roll of the dice by the Peter Moody stable but if this horse runs truly he is too well placed in this class not to go close to adding another win to his lightly raced record.

RACE 8 TWO BLUE: Expecting good improvement from this smart mare after she raced boldly at her first start in eight months when a game fifth, beaten only 2.5 lengths, after chasing the speed over this course and distance on May 30 when it was evident she just lacked race fitness despite some excellent lead-up trials. She is a keen competitor when second-up, recording two of her six wins at that stage of her preps, and with the pace to take advantage of her inside draw she represents a decent each-way gamble on her preferred soft ground.

BLACKBOOK FILE

EPIC: Did it tough in the run. Suitable races coming up.

FLAMINGO STAR: Quality import with plenty of upside for next season.

WORD OF MOUTH: Shame to see him beaten. Can make amends in similar grade.

NAUTICAL: Trapped in traffic cost him dearly. Suited by a bigger track.

ROCK ‘N’ GOLD: Little went right in the run. Tough effort under the circumstances.
