ROSEHILL SATURDAY
RACE 3 (4) RIVER WILD: After four trials since February Gai Waterhouse finally got this promising Fasnet Rock colt to the races at Kembla Grange on August 15 and he didn’t disappoint, exploding away from his rivals for a six lengths win over 1300m. Carrying 59kg, he ran an impressive 33.72 for his last 600m, returning figures that marked him as a 3YO certain to win in better company. He could easily take control of this race from the start with his good trial form on heavy and soft tracks easing concerns about his ability to handle the expected conditions.
RACE 4 (7) MAGIC HURRICANE: Talented Godolphin import made an impact winning his Australian debut over 1400m on a soft Randwick track in June and expecting him to find that form here after an eye catching third over 1400m at this course on August 15 when he made up a lot of ground from last. As a winner up to 2400m in the UK this trip looks an ideal progression from his last start, especially as he in receipt of between 2kg and 4.5kg from his main rivals.
RACE 5 (2) EXOSPHERE: Be assured his Golden Slipper failure, when he had an obvious physical problem, was an aberration as the explosive talent he had displayed in two huge wins at his first two starts, when his closing sectionals were exceptional, stamped him as a top shelf colt. Comes off a very strong trial win that has him primed to give the impressive Japonisme a real test.
