The recent good run of Woodside Park stallion Written Tycoon (Iglesia) continued at Caulfield on Saturday with his daughter Pippie (4 m ex Coupe Express by Ne Coupez Pas) taking out the Oakleigh Plate (Gr 1, 1100m) to become the eighth Group 1 winner for her sire.

The four-year-old mare, who started as an 11-1 chance, beat Zoutori (Zoustar) by a half-length with Crystal Dreamer (Stratum) third. The James Cummings-trained favourite Bivouac (Exceed And Excel) was beaten two and a half lengths for sixth.

The victory provided Chris Meagher, who trains in partnership with his father John, with his first Group 1 victory.

"I said last time in she went out a little girl and she's come back a grown up woman," Chris Meagher said.

"Today she was just pure speed and was too good.

"It's a magic result.

Saturday's victory took Pippie's record to five wins and two placings from nine career starts with her prize money totalling $571,450.

A $60,000 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale buy by her trainer from the draft of her breeder Eureka Stud, Pippie is the only winner out of the six-time winner Coupe Express (Ne Coupez Pas). Her second dam is the winner Gal Express (Success Express) who produced six winners including the Listed-placed Timely Truce (Brief Truce).

Pippie is the only stakes winner in three generations with dual Group 2 winner Merry Ruler (The Carpenter) being out of her fourth dam Merry Maggy (Vain).

Coupe Express has a two-year-old by Defcon (Choisir). She slipped to Hellbent (I Am Invincible) in 2018 and was covered by Eureka Stud's Spirit Of Boom (Sequalo) last September.

Written Tycoon's other Group 1 winners are Tycoon Tara, Music Magnate, Booker, Written By, Despatch, Capitalist and La Luna Rossa. He has 25 lots catalogued for the forthcoming Inglis Premier Yearling Sale which begins on March 1.
