Finishes the season second behind Capitalist in the leading first season sires table by winners.
The Kim Waugh-trained Turning (2 g ex Miskish by Fastnet Rock) broke his maiden over 1000 metres at Muswellbrook on Saturday to provide his Vinery Stud-based sire Star Turn (Star Witness) with his 19th winner in Australia and 20th overall.
Having his second career start after finishing third on debut at Scone on 18 July, Turning scored a two and a quarter length victory over favourite Nadaraja (Redoute's Choice), with Loversfield (Deep Field) another length back in third.
Star Turn finished the season having sired 19th winners in Australia and sits second behind Capitalist (Written Tycoon) in the leading first season sires table in Australia by winners.
He sits in fifth place in the table by earnings behind Extreme Choice (Not A Single Doubt), Capitalist, Flying Artie (Artie Schiller) and Shalaa (Invincible Spirit) and after covering a book of 167 mares last year, Star Turn's 2021 fee remains at $16,500 (inc GST) for his fifth season at stud.
