18 for Spirit Of Boom
Stakes placed previously, Simply Fly (4 g ex Express Air by Piccolo) won Saturday's Listed Chief De Beers (1110m) at Doomben, providing his Eureka Stud-based sire Spirit Of Boom (Sequalo) with his 18th stakes winner. Now the winner of seven of his 24 career starts, the Rex Lipp and Nick Hahn-trained Simply Fly defeated Centrefire (Shooting To Win) by a length and a half, with Winside (Sidestep) back in third. Spirit Of Boom has enjoyed a good season with Simply Fly the stallion's seventh stakes winner this season. He will stand for an unchanged fee of $33,000 (inc GST) this year after covering 178 mares last season.

50 for Written Tycoon
Yulong's Written Tycoon (Iglesia) recorded his 50th stakes winner – 13th this season - when the Rex Lipp and Nick Hahn-trained Tycoon Evie (4 m ex Winaura by Show A Heart) won the Group 3 Pam O'Neill (1600m) at Doomben on Saturday. The victory provided Tycoon Evie's trainers with a stakes double on the card, with the mare scoring by a head over Zing (Zoustar) and taking her record to six wins and six placings in 20 career starts. Crowned champion sire last year, Written Tycoon is currently sitting in sixth place in the leading sires table in Australia by earnings with that table headed by Yarraman Park's I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit).
