After an injury enforced break, Invincible Caviar has made a winning return at Sale.
Invincible Caviar, who trainer Peter Moody says most resembles her dam, the unbeaten champion Black Caviar, has made a winning return to racing at Sale.
By I Am Invincible, Invincible Caviar is one of seven foals of Black Caviar and registered her second career win with a first-up victory in the Carlton Draught Handicap (1208m) on Wednesday.
Moody, who trained Black Caviar to an unbeaten record of 25 wins, said Invincible Caviar looks and has a similar build to her mother and has had her career interrupted by surgery.
"It's good to get her back on track," Moody told racing.com.
"She had minor knee surgery and she's pulled a few muscles and different things since which started reminding me of her mother.
"She looks very much and has a similar build to her mother, so she is susceptible to those sorts of things.
"The key to her will be to just lift the bar slowly and keep her on firm ground."
Ridden by Luke Nolen, Invincible Caviar was sent out the $3.10 favourite on the Soft 5 rated track before scoring a three-quarter length win from Blistering ($4.80) with Merlin's Crown ($11) a further 1-½ lengths away third.
Invincible Caviar ran third to stakes winner Argentia on debut at Flemington in June last year and in her only other appearance scored a Sale maiden win in August last year.
Minor knee surgery and strained muscles have kept her from the racetrack since.
"It's very pleasing to see her return after 13 months like that," Moody said.
"It was a pretty good mares' race and I honestly think the track was not to her liking, but she did enough to win.
"We can go forwards now, and fingers crossed she pulls up sound and happy.
"She's not her mother, we know that, and we respect that, but with a mare with her pedigree, you would try and enhance it with some 'black type', but that's a long way down the track.
"I think she can build quite a nice record. I believe she's a stakes quality filly and I think we'll get there one day, but we'll be happy to be patient for that day."
Invincible Caviar joins Oscietra as the only multiple winners from Black Caviar while Prince Of Caviar is the mare's only other winner.
