Snitzel will stand for the highest fee of his illustrious stallion career after Arrowfield Stud on Wednesday announced the fees for their seven-strong 2023 roster.

The four-time Australian Champion Sire will stand for a fee of $247,500, including GST.

That is an increase on last year's fee of $220,000, which was an equal career high, having stood for the same amount in 2018/19.

The rise comes off the back of Shinzo last month providing him with a second Golden Slipper success, which is one of 17 Stakes wins for the season to date.

The soon-to-be 21-year-old son of Redoute's Choice also had 10 yearlings sell for at least $1 million this year, including four of the eight lots who sold for at least $1.4 million at Inglis Easter.

Snitzel is one of three Arrowfield stallions who have had increases for 2023 with Dundeel (High Chaparral) up to $82,500 from $66,000, which has been his fee for the past four seasons.

His star performer this season has been Militarize, who won the Group 1 double of the ATC Sires' and Champagne Stakes.

Showtime, a son of Snitzel, is the other stallion with an increased fee, up to $16,500 from $11,000.

Maurice, sire of Hitotsu, Mazu and Japanese star Jack D'Or, will again stand for $82,500, The Autumn Sun (Redoute's Choice) remains at $66,000, while Dundeel's son Castelvecchio and Admire Mars (Daiwa Major) are also unchanged, at $27,500 and $22,000 respectively.

"We have raised the fees of three stallions, with four horses at unchanged figures, after careful consideration of their current performance and commercial appeal, recognising the different stages they are at, and the economic environment," Arrowfield chairman John Messara said.
