A look at the results from this year’s Gold Coast Yearling Sale
The curtain came down on the 2025 Gold Coast Yearling Sale early on Friday night with the sale to be remembered as the offering that produced the two highest-priced yearlings ever sold by Magic Millions.
The $2.8 million colt by Snitzel out of Humma Humma, who will be trained by Ciaron Maher, claimed the record on Thursday but was surpassed by the $3.2m daughter of Home Affairs and Sunlight went through late on Friday's fourth day.
That duo were among 13 seven-figure lots of a sale that saw $205,470,000 change hands at an average of $272,507.
Those numbers were down slightly on last year's figures of $225,778,000 and $275,675, as was the 81.5 percent clearance rate – 88 percent in 2024 – while the median was $200,000 each year.
I Am Invincible was leading sire by gross ($22,055,000), but Snitzel pipped Frankel for average honours $765,556 to $762,500.
Home Affairs, sire of the record lot, was leading first-season sire by both gross ($17,835,000) and average ($396,333).
Newgate sold more horses (52) and had the biggest gross ($18,475,000) of all vendors, while Segenhoe Stud led the averages with its 32 lots selling for $459,063 apiece.
