Three-year-old filly hands Sea The Stars his 67th stakes winner.
The Gilltown Stud-based stallion Sea The Stars (Cape Cross) sired his 67th stakes winner on Thursday when his daughter Valia (3 f ex Veda by Dansili) kept her unbeaten record in tact in the Prix De Thiberville (Listed, 2400m) at Longchamp.
The filly came into the race off the back of breaking her maiden on debut at Clairefontaine last month and she showed her class to beat Wonderful Tonight (Le Havre) by two and a half lengths with Padovana (Sea The Moon) another neck away in third.
Bred and raced by the Aga Khan, the filly is the only winner out of two-time winner Veda (Dansili), who finished second in the 2014 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches (Gr 1, 1600m).
Veda is out of dual Group 3 winner Vadapolina (Trempolino) who produced five winners and she is a half-sister to Vazira (Sea The Stars) and Vadawina (Unfuwain), who both won the Prix Saint-Alary (Gr 1, 2000m).
Vadawina herself produced Group 2 winner Vadamar (Dalakhani), Group 3 scorer and Group 1-placed The Pentagon (Galileo) and Listed winner Vedouma (Dalakhani).
Sea The Stars - whose progeny is headed by 13 Group 1 winners including this season's Australian Cup (Gr 1, 2000m) winner Fifty Stars and Sydney Cup (Gr 1, 3200m) victor Shraaoh - stood at the Aga Khan's Gilltown Stud for a fee of €150,000 this year.
