Sergei Prokofiev (Scat Daddy) will stand at Whitsbury Manor Stud in England in 2021. Trained by Aidan O’Brien, Sergei Prokofiev has won four of his 14 starts. Placed third in the Coventry Stakes (Gr 2, 6f) in 2018 behind Calyx (Kingman) he went on and won the Cornwallis Stakes Gr 3, 5f) later that year.

Bought for US$1.1 million by MV Magnier at the 2017 Keeneland September Yearling Sale, the son of Scat Daddy (Johannesburg) is out of Orchard Beach (Tapit) who is a half-sister to the Grade 3 winner Necessary Evil (Harlan’s Holiday) and three other winners. Further back this is the family of Grade 1 winner Over All (Mr Prospector).

Ed Harper, director of Whitsbury Manor Stud, said: "We're immensely excited to stand Sergei Prokofiev. His turn of foot in the Cornwallis Stakes at Newmarket really had to be seen to be believed, and his performance at Royal Ascot put him firmly alongside the season's best two-year-olds.

"He's an imposing individual, typical of his sire Scat Daddy, with an exaggerated athletic walk and he will offer our clients an extremely commercial option for next season."

A fee will be announced at a later date.
