Spieth (Thorn Park) was retired to stand at Aquis Farm’s New South Wales base the winner of five of his 18 starts which saw him accrue $626,600 in career prize-money.

Introduced at a fee of $16,500 (inc GST), the son of Thorn Park (Spinning World) finished second on debut before breaking his maiden on his next start.

After finishing tenth in the Arrowfield 3YO Sprint Stakes (Gr 3, 1200m), Spieth strung together three victories.

He was kept in training as a four-year-old and made a seasonal debut in the Lightning Handicap (Listed, 1100m) - his first win at stakes level, a victory he followed up by being narrowly beaten by Malaguerra (Magnus) in the Darley Classic (Gr 1, 1200m).

Spieth was once again unlucky at the top-level when being just edged out by Terravista (Captain Rio) in the Black Caviar Lightning Stakes (Gr 1, 1000m).

Purchased by Ellerslie Lodge for NZ$200,000 at the 2014 New Zealand Bloodstock National Karaka Yearling Sale, Spieth is out of dual-winning Titus Livius (Machiavellian) mare Stella Livia, making him a three-quarter brother to Group 3 scorer Star Of The Seas (Ocean Park), while he is half-brother to a further four winners.

Further back he hails from the same family as German Group 1 winner Ransom O’War (Red Ransom) and Listed scorers Inverleigh (Excelebration) and Rajani (Siyouni).
