Tarzino, El Roca and Telperion see their fees rise for 2022
On Thursday, Westbury Stud announced the fees for the six stallions that they will stand in 2022 with Tarzino (Tavistock), El Roca (Fastnet Rock) and Telperion (Street Cry) all subject to fee increases.
Tarzino stood for NZ$12,000 in 2021 and he will stand for a fee of NZ$15,000 (plus GST) this spring. His first crop are now three-year-olds and include the Group 3 winner and dual Group 1 placed filly Gypsy Goddess, who was last seen running second in the Australian Oaks (Gr 1, 2400m) and last start Chairman's Stakes (Gr 3, 2000m) winner Jungle Magnate.
"Tarzino is going very well, particularly in Australia, and El Roca has come through the grades and he was at a low-end service fee when he started his career," Westbury General Manager Russell Warwick said.
"We'll never get away from Australian being our biggest market and Tarzino's first crop were bought strongly by Australians and it's been rewarding to see they have been patient with them and they are reaping the rewards.
"He has got a wonderful bunch of horses coming through now they are maturing as autumn three-year-olds, as we thought they would.
"El Roca has done really well to the point where he has horses like Mali Ston, Lucky Patch and the unbeaten Norwegian Bliss. He has made very good progression."
El Roca stood for NZ$8,000 last year and he will stand for NZ$12,500 (plus GST) this year while Telperion (Street Cry) has had his fee increased from NZ$5,000 to NZ$6,000 (plus GST).
Reliable Man (Dalakhani) is subject to a small fee reduction, down from NZ$17,500 last year to NZ$16,000 (plus GST).
The stallion has sired Group 1 winners Miami Bound, Inspirational Girl and Sentimental Miss and has enjoyed another good season on the racetrack this year.
"He has had another great season with five individual stakes winners and ten stakes performers this season," Warwick said.
The roster is completed by Redwood (High Chaparral) who will stand for an unchanged fee of NZ$8,000 (plus GST) and Swiss Ace (Secret Savings) whose fee has been reduced from NZ$7,500 to NZ$5,000 (plus GST).
Westbury will again be offering its no foal, no fee policy across all six stallions with fees not payable until a live foal is on the ground at 24 hours of age.
