Bought by Katsumi Yoshida for US$650,000 .
A filly by Coolmore Australia shuttler American Pharoah (Pioneerof The Nile) topped the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company March Two-Year-Olds In Training Sale when bought by Katsumi Yoshida for US$650,000 on Tuesday.
Sold by Wavertree Stables as Lot 237, the filly is out of the juvenile winner Megalisious (Songandaprayer) who has produced two winners to date including the stakes-placed filly My Sweet Stella (Eskendereya). Her second dam is Katie McLaury (Centrust), the dam of five winners headed by Listed winner Abbondanza (Alphabet Soup). She had breezed a quarter mile in a time of 20.2 seconds, the fastest time at the second breeze.
The sale represented a successful pinhook with the filly having been bought for U$165,000 at last year's Keeneland September Yearling Sale by Windfield Bloodstock. She had originally been sold as a weanling for US$70,000 at the 2018 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale.
American Pharoah has shuttled to Australia for the last three years, standing for a fee of $66,000 (inc GST). His first crop have sold for up to $850,000 and averaged $259,303 at the Australian yearling sales so far this year.
The most expensive colt sold on Tuesday with a son of Spendthrift Farm's champion sire Into Mischief (Harlan's Holiday) who was bought by Myracehorse.com and Spendthrift for US$500,000. He is out of the stakes-placed Montessa G (Montbrook) who is a half-sister to Gator Brew (Milwaukee Brew) being out of Doc's Doll (Out Of Place). The colt, who had breezed in a time of 21:0, was consigned by Meric Sales as Lot 258.
Into Mischief is standing the 2020 breeding season for a fee of US$175,000.
