Dark Angel colt tops selling for £120,000 while average and median show gains

During the opening session of the 2021 Goffs UK Doncaster Premier Sale on Tuesday, seven lots sold for six figures with gains seen in the average and median.

The most expensive lot to sell was a colt by Dark Angel (Acclamation) out of Listed winning mare Elusive Beauty (Elusive Pimpernel) who was bought by Manor House Stud. The colt was consigned by Yeomanstown Stud, where his sire stands, as Lot 109

The progeny of last year’s European champion first season sire Mehmas (Acclamation) accounted for two of the six figure lots with a colt out of Interweave (Dutch Art), catalogued by Lot 175, selling to Sheikh Abdullah Almalek Alsabah for £115,000. Earlier in the day a filly by Mehmas, out of Fainleog (Rock Of Gibraltar), was bought by Alex Elliott for £100,000.

Overall on Tuesday, 178 of the 204 yearlings offered were sold for £7,007,500 at a clearance rate of 87 per cent. The average of £39,268 was up eight per cent from last year whilst the median increased ten per cent to £32,000.
