Following on from the very successful breeding stock dispersal for Kevin Hickman's Valachi Downs, which concluded on Friday evening, their 52 lot unreserved young and racing stock dispersal is now live on Gavelhouse Plus.

Last week's breeding and stallion share dispersal grossed over NZ$6.6 million with Tofane's (Ocean Park) dam, Baggy Green (Galileo) the highlight, selling for NZ$1.75 million to Yulong's Written Tycoon Syndicate.

"The sale has gone very well and Kevin's broodmare band has been appreciated like it deserved to be. It's great to see the net result of all his passion and commitment and input into the industry over the years be honoured with these expectation exceeding prices," Valachi General Manager Gareth Downey said.

Among the highlights in the next reduction is Tofane's yearling sister

"This is a unique opportunity to secure genuine racing propositions that are of the quality that they would usually be retained to further bolster an elite broodmare band," Downey said.

"They have been well-reared and those that are further through the system have been well-educated by the Valachi Racing team and are ready for new owners to reap the benefits from this."

Other notable entries include:

  • ·Lot 21 – by Zoustar (Northern Meteor) and from the Redoute's Choice (Danehill) mare Dark Hedges, this filly is a three quarter to Zousain, a Group Two winning juvenile and multiple Group One runner up.
  • ·Lot 23 – an Almanzor (Wootton Bassett) half-sister to Group 2 winner Needle and Thread (Makfi) who sold for NZ$410,000 in the breeding stock dispersal plus multiple Group One place-getter Savile Row (Makfi).
  • ·Lot 52 – Group 2 placed Glory Bound looks to have plenty of upside. By Tavistock (Montjeu) and out of the multiple stakes performer The Tidy Express (Volksraad), she is lightly tried with just eight starts for an impressive maiden win and three placings.

Bidding will close from 7pm (NZT) on Friday 1 July.
