Champion racemate Zenyatta (Street Cry) has been retired from broodmare duties after producing a War Front filly at Lane's End Farm in Kentucky last week.

The 19-year-old mare won 19 of her 20 career starts, 12 of those at Grade 1 level and she became the first mare to win the Breeders' Cup Classic (10f) in 2009.

As a broodmare however, she struggled to stay in foal and only two of her four foals of racing age have raced. Cozmic One failed to win in five starts, while Ziconic has finished second twice but did not broken his maiden.

"Zenyatta is such an ambassador for the sport, maybe people will have a chance to see her now that she's retired," said Lane's End farm manager Todd Claunch.

"It's an honour to be around her, she's not like any horse I've ever been around. She loves people and really likes being the centre of attention. She's really special."
