Take Profit breaks maiden at Delaware Park

Air Force Blue Picture: Coolmore Australia

The Jeremiah O'Dwyer-trained Take Profit (2 c ex Cavanaugh Park by Galileo) shed his maiden status at the second time of asking as he took out a maiden special weight over seven and a half furlongs at Delaware Park on Saturday and in the process handed former Coolmore Stud shuttler Air Force Blue (War Front) with his ninth winner.

After finishing fifth on debut at Laurel Park on August 29, the two-year-old colt posted a half a length victory over Sam In Style (First Samurai), while Comply (Union Rags) was another nose away in third.

Purchased by Amador Sanchez for US$10,000 at the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company Ocala Select Two-Year-Old Sale, the colt is out of the unraced Galileo (Sadler’s Wells) mare Cavanaugh Park.

Cavanaugh Park herself is a sister to Mazaz, who won four times in Australia and was also placed at Listed level.

Further back this is the same family as 2008 Poule d'Essai des Poulains (Gr 1, 1600m) winner Falco (Pivotal), Listed winner Numb Lips (Olmodavor) and Group 3 winner Iron Lips (Iron Mask), who in turn produced Listed scorer Oriental (Smart Strike).

Air Force Blue shuttled to Jerrys Plains for one season in 2017 and he now stands exclusively at their Ashford Stud base in Kentucky, where his fee in 2020 was advertised as US$15,000.
