Just Cindy wins Schuylerville Stakes at Saratoga
Coolmore Stud's Justify (Scat Daddy) sired his second stakes winner on Thursday when his juvenile daughter Just Cindy (2 f ex Jenda's Agenda by Proud Citizen) remained unbeaten in two starts in the Group 3 Schuylerville Stakes (6f) at Saratoga.
A homebred for Clarkland Farm and trained by Eddie Kenneally, Just Cindy won on debut at Churchill Downs and scored a two and a quarter length victory at Saratoga in the Schuylerville Stakes – the first Group race of the year for juveniles in North America.
"It was great and I think she's still a little green too, so I think there's a lot of raw talent there," said Kelly Wheeler, assistant to trainer Eddie Kenneally.
"She's an exciting horse to have in the barn. She kind of got knocked around a little bit and she stayed professional and ran on. It's really all you can ask for in a second-time starter."
Just Cindy is the first winner out of stakes winning mare Jenda's Agenda and is the second stakes winner for Justify joining Group 2 winner Statuette. The Coolmore Stud sire has sired four winners in his first Northern Hemisphere-bred crop to date and his first Australian-bred crop will be two-year-olds next season.
Justify will not shuttle to Coolmore Australia this season but is due to return in 2023. His progeny were well received in the sales ring in Australia this year including a colt selling for $1,000,000 to Hawkes Racing at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale where he finished the sale as the leading first season sire by average.
