Vinery Stud resident Benicio did his part at the 2012 Gold Coast Magic Millions when his one and only entry sold for $82,500 on Sunday.
The Benicio x Manhattan Project colt was presented to sale by Goodwood Farm and was sold to local buyer Craig Morrisey. He is closely related to the stakes winner Sparks Fly.
Manhattan Project (Flying Spur) foaled a Mossman filly in 2011.
"Our stallions enjoyed a tremendously successful sale at the Magic Millions,” Phelan added.
“Myboycharlie made the perfect start with 10 offered, 10 sold. They sold for up to ten times his service fee.
"More Than Ready and Testa Rossa were incredibly popular again as was Mossman.”
Myboycharlie was the stunning success among the first season sires at the 2012 Magic Millions
sale after his yearlings sold at an average of $121,000 making him the most popular and profitable first season sire at the sale.Myboycharlie had 100% clearance of his stock with 10 yearlings averaging $121,000 off an affordable debut service fee of just $14,300.
His top seller was $170,000, paid by Mick Kent for a colt from Fidelias Dance (GB) offered by Southern Cross Breeders.
"Most of the studs would be quite happy with the way their first season sires sold but from a vendors and breeder's point of view what matters is service to price ratio and Myboycharlie was the clear winner in that category with 8.5 times service fee' says Vinery's Adam White.
Myboycharlie is by the ill-fated Danehill sire Danetime, whose stud career was cut prematurely short after just a few seasons at stud.
He's also from a familiar European Black Type family that features one particular branch that has been very successful in Australia producing the G1 winner Snowland, G2 winner Portillo and the useful sire Snippetson.
Gai Waterhouse is going to train three of his Gold Coast yearlinbgs while the others were sold to David Hayes, Anthony Freedman, John Sadler, David Payne and Cliff Brown.
Myboycharlie has six lots in the 2012 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.
Myboycharlie won four of his nine starts highlighted by the G1 Prix Morny and the Angelsey Stakes by 7 lenghts. He was crowned Champion 2YO Colt in France in 2007.
