Hurdy Gurdy Man Starts Stud Career

Street Cry’s Group winner Hurdy Gurdy Man has begun his stud career at Moorookyle Park in Victoria.

The Darren Weir trained entire won eight of his 37 starts, finishing in the placings on a further 15 occasions.

Retiring as the winner of over $450,000 in stakes, Hurdy Gurdy Man raced 11 times at stakes level winning the G3 Hobart Cup and finishing stakes placed five times including seconds in the Listed Werribee Cup and the Listed Bagot Handicap at Flemington and thirds in the Listed Warrnambool Cup and Listed Ballarat Cup.

Hurdy Gurdy Man won over a variety of distances from 1400m to 2400m on seven different tracks and he was equally as efficient on top of the ground as he was in the wet.

Being a son of the Dubai World Cup winner Street Cry, Hurdy Gurdy Man boasts excellent pedigree credentials.

Already a proven sire of sires in Austraalasia with Per Incanto, Street Boss, Street Sense and in the US with Street Hero and Street Magician, the late Street Cry is a great dual hemisphere success story.

Boasting an outstanding 67% winners-to-runners strike rate, Street Cry has sired 89 stakes winners with his 7.9% stakes winner-to-runner ratio.

He has been represented by the marvellous mare Zenyatta and Kentucky Derby hero Street Sense in America and locally such high class gallopers as Shocking, Whobegotyou, Long John, Winx and Pride Of Dubai.

Bred on the same Street Cry/Northern Dancer cross as 58 Street Cry stakes winners, Hurdy Gurdy Man is out of the winning Bluebird mare Abalone, a half-sister to the stakes winner Perfect Paradise.
