French sales company Arqana recorded record turnover of 90.9 million euros in 2007.

The new record is up by a massive 78 per cent on the combined turnover of the French sales in 2005 and 18 percent on 2006.

Turnover at three yearling sales in August, October and December was more than 50 million euros, up by 30 per cent from 2006 compared with the overall European progression of 7 per cent.

Turnover over at the three sales combined rose by 30 per cent, an excellent performance compared with the other major European sales companies, (Tattersalls +10 per cent, Goffs -9 per cent).

The sales which were boosted by the Group One success of graduates such as Lawman, Literato, Natagora, Coquerelle, Doctor Dino, Grand Couturier and Saddex.

The December Breeding Stock sale in Deauville turnover in 2006 rose by 150% and this year the sale's aggregate was up again by more than 18 million euros.

During the year eight of Arqana's ten sales returned new record aggregates.

A three year redevelopment of the sales ground at Deauville begins in 2008.

Arqana's Breeding Stock sale recorded turnover of 18.4 million euros, slightly up on the record breaking sale of 2006 which was up by 150% from the previous year.

Before 2006 the turnover at the Deauville December sale had never been more than 8 million euros.

In 200718 fillies and mares made 200,000 euros or more, compared with 10 in 2006.
