DBS December Catalogue Now Online

The DBS December Sales (7 December 2009) features a mixed catalogue of exciting Flat and National Hunt Horses in Training, regally bred Flat and National Hunt Mares, Flat bred Yearlings and an exciting selection of well bred Fillies in training that have a huge residual value once their racing days are over.

This sale has a deserved reputation as a source of top class success in the breeding sheds and on the racecourse, where previous graduates include the Group 1 winning DIM SUM. He was bought by the Kern/Lillingston Asscoiation from White Lea Stables in 2006 and was sent to Hong Kong to begin his career with John Moore, who trained him to win the Group 1 Chairman's Sprint Prize at Sha Tin and over £265,000 in prize money.

Flat and National Hunt Mares

The selection of exciting mares includes the four time winning AJIG DANCER (66), who will be offered by Norman Court Stud and is the dam of three black type winners including the Group 2 winning AJIGOLO and is in foal to the Classic winning SIXTIES ICON. The catalogue also includes a number of fillies in training that would be a valuable addition to any broodmare band, including UNDAUNTED AFFAIR (175), who was third in the Group 3 Swordlestown Stud Sprint at Naas and the Listed placed ROTHESAY DANCER (69), whilst the list of covering sires includes the exciting young stallions Byron, Dutch Art and Sleeping Indian.

Jethro Bloodstock will offer a selection of regally bred National Hunt mares that includes an unraced daughter of EXIT TO NOWHERE, who is in foal to FLEMENSFIRTH and out of an own sister to the Grade 1 winners BEST MATE and CORNISH REBEL (80). The draft also features an unraced ALFLORA half sister to the Grade 1 winning ARAN CONCERTO who is in foal to KAYF TARA (79).


Flat bred Yearlings

KHELEYF has been a revelation at stud and Zeebriva Stables will offer a colt from the immediate family of the Group 1 placed BORDER ARROW (31) that is eligible for the Racing Post Yearling Bonus. Others eligible for the £10,000 prize include an AVONBRIDGE (6) half brother to four winners from New Hall Stud; a grandson of PIVOTAL from the immediate family of the Listed winning HALLAND PARK GIRL who will be consigned by Sledmere House (3); a HAAFD half sister to two winners who will be offered by Snailwell Stud (30); a CADEAUX GENEREUX filly out of the Listed placed DOLCE PICCATA (15) who will come from Richmond Stables and a HIGH CHAPARRAL filly from the immediate family of the Group 1 winning DANCING BRAVE who will be offered by Mickley Stud (40).

National Hunt Horses in Training

Recent Bumper winners are always a popular addition to any sale and Rhonehurst Stables will offer DOUBLE EXPRESSO (198), a five year old son of Kayf Tara out of a half sister to the Grade 2 winning Bosuns Mate who was an eight length winner on his debut. He is joined by EASTERN SUPREME (199), who will be consigned by Peter Niven and was successful by four and a half lengths on his debut and is out of an own sister to the Grade 3 winning Saxophone.

Others include the five year old FLASH SCAN (149), who was successful in a Point to Point earlier this year before he won a Bumper at Limerick; the four year old LACKAMON (124), who was a two length winner of a Point to Point earlier this month; the four year old FLAMING BREEZE (194) who is a half brother to the Grade 2 winning BALLYCASSIDY and was a close second on his most recent Point to Point and the impressive DOWNWARD SPIRAL (195) who was a winner of a Point to Point on his only start to date.

Flat Horses in Training

The catalogue contains a varied selection of high class performers including WEALD PARK (191). The three year old son of Cozzene was second in the Group 2 Weatherbys Superlative Stakes and forms part of a draft from East Everleigh Stables. He is joined by the four time winner VICTORIA SPONGE (190) who is rated 89 whilst Queen Alexandra Stables will offer the three year old filly BEAT SEVEN (177), who is a winner and was placed second in the Listed Keep Able Star Stakes at Sandown. She is joined by the three year old filly ROSABEE (87), who was placed in the Group 3 Princess Margaret Stakes at Royal Ascot.

The Darley draft is always a popular addition to any DBS sale and the 22 horses include the two year old MASS RALLY (98), who is a winner and rated 81; the winning two year old DAHAKAA (92) who is rated 85; the two time winner LORD CHANCELLOR (93); an unraced SHAMARDAL two year old out of the Listed winning PRESTO VENTO (157); a three year old own brother to the Listed winning MANY COLOURS (95) and an own brother to the Group 1 winning DONNA BLINI (94).

In addition to those mentioned above, the sale also features impressive drafts from David Baronn, Ralph Beckett, John Best, Noel Chance, Mick Channon, Peter Chapple-Hyam , Paul Cole, Luca Cumani, Darley, David Elsworth, John Gosden, Richard Hannon, Philip Hobbs, Ferdy Murphy, Kevin Ryan, Shadwell, Sir Robert Ogden etc.
