The exquisitely-bred Redoute’s Choice filly Rakasa made a debut in keeping with her pedigree when winning at Goodwood on Wednesday for Godolphin.

Bred in Australia to northern hemisphere time, Rakasa is by Redoute’s Choice from Danse Arabe, a Seeking The Gold half-sister to 1999 Poule d’Essai des Pouliches winner Valentine Waltz.
Redoute’s Choice has made quite an impact in Northern Hemisphere from his limited exposure through foals conceived in Australia. They include the stakeswinners Elzaam and Tazahum.
“One hopes she can definitely go on from that and be a nice filly for the future,†said Godolphin’s Simon Crisford.
“Sheikh Mohammed felt she was good enough to come here to Goodwood and do herself justice on the Downs.
“We didn’t come here thinking she was a good thing to win but we wanted to see her run a nice race and she’s done that.
“We’ll take a step up the ladder with her next time.â€
Rakasa is trained by Mahmood Al Zarooni and was ridden by Frankie Dettori.
After being conceived in Australia to Northern Hemisphere time Rakasa’s dam was shipped to the UK where the filly was born.
Rakasa is Danse Arabe’s second foal with Last Tycoon and Australian stakeswinner Britt’s Best figuring in the family.
The first foal from Danse Arabe is a year older Reset filly also registered in Australia as Rakasa.
She was sold at the 2010 Inglis Winter Thoroughbred Sale for $3000 and has raced five times for two placings.
