Champion Australian sire Fastnet Rock sired another black type winner in the UK at Chester on Wednesday.
His Irish-bred 3YO filly Diamondsandrubies (Fastnet Rock x Quarter Moon, by Sadler's Wells) became the 76th stakeswinner for Fastnet Rock when she scored by six lengths for trainer Aiden O'Brien in the Listed Cheshire Oaks.
The Coolmore-owned Diamondsandrubies has now raced four times for two wins and a placing in the Listed Salsabil Stakes and she is now into 10-1 for next month's English Oaks at Epsom.Coolmore spokesman Kevin Buckley confirmed that the Epsom Oaks is the target for Diamondsandrubies.
"Aidan has confirmed that Epsom is the target," he told Sky Sports."I imagine he'll have other possible runners and maybe have something for the Musidora at York next week."
Diamondsandrubies is from the G1 Moylgare Stakes winner Quarter Moon, who went on to be placed in the 1000 Guineas, English Oaks, Irish Oaks and Nassau Stakes.She is a sister to Irish 1000 Guineas winner and English Oaks runner-up Yesterday.
The family includes G1-winning sire Aussie Rules, champion filly Alborada and Germany’s 2004 Horse of the year Albanova.Lonhro also added another UK record to his record at Chester when his 2YO filly Rah Rah (Lonhro x Rahiyah, by Rahy) won the Lily Agnes Conditions Stakes over 1000m.
Trained by Mark Johnston for Sheikh Hamdan Rah Rah has now won both her career starts and is a likely starter at Royal Ascot.Her dam Rahiyah was G1 placed and hails from the family of G1 winners Optimistic Lass and Golden Opinion.
