The Aidan O'Brien-trained colt is the first son of Galileo to complete the English and Irish 2000 Guineas double.

Ridden by Ryan Moore, proved he was a miler of the highest class when he beat Endless Drama, a first crop son of Lope De Vega, and Ivawood, from the first crop of new shuttle sire Zebedee.

He is the first Irish 2000 Guineas winner for Ryan Moore and the tenth for O’Brien.

While Gleneagles is clearly the best miler of his generation to date there is a possibility he could run in the English Derby next month as his owners Coolmore lack a standout candidate for the Epsom classic this year.

Galileo is already the sire of three Derby winners - Australia, New Approach and Ruler Of The World.

Gleneagles is out of the Storm Cat mare You'resothrilling, a sister to six time G1 winner and champion sire Giant's Causeway.

A Cherry Hinton Stakes winner, You’resothrilling is also the dam of the Irish 1000 Guineas winner Marvellous.

You'resothrilling is a half-sister to the unraced Sadler's Wells mare Love Me Only, whose first foal Storm The Stars won at Goodwood on Friday.

Storm The Stars is by Sea The Stars, a half-brother to Galileo (Sadler’s Wells).

• GALILEO added his 182nd stakes winner on Saturday when the David Simcock-trained The Corsican won the Listed Festival Stakes at Goodwood.

Bred by his owner Fitriani Hay, The Corsican is a 4YO out of the Danehill mare Walklikeanegyptianand hoilds entries for the G1 Prince Of Wales’s Stakes and G2 Hardwicke

Stakes at Royal Ascot.

• THE Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum homebred Mustajeeb (Nayef x Rifqah by Elusive Quality) won the G2 Greenland Stakes at the Curragh and could be en route to a Royal Ascot return when he won the G2 Jersey Stakes last year.

Galileo’s crack sire Teofilo took his tally of stakes winners to 39 when his classy 2YO colt Round Two won the Listed Marble Hil Stakes at The Curragh.

Round Two (Teofilo x Khazina by Kingmambo) is trained by Jim Bolger for Godolphin and has won both his career starts.

Bolger has the G2 Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot on his agenda.

• The Dermot Weld-trained Brooch (Empire Maker x Daring Diva by Dansili) kept her unbeaten record intact winning the G2 Lanwades Stud Stakes at the Curragh at her first starts as a 4YO.
