Classic Contenders Emerge In Ireland

Three-year-old sons of Galileo and Sea The Stars have staked early claims for the coming classics with important prep wins in Ireland.

Black Sea (Galileo x Christmas Kid by Lemon Drop Kid) won the Listed Leopardstown 2000 Guineas Trial over a mile by a head to become the 207th stakes winner for his champion sire.

The same program the Dermot Weld-trained Harzand (Sea The Stars x Hazariya by Xaar) took out the G3 Ballysax Stakes over 10 furlongs to become the 24th stakes winner for his sire.

The Aga Khan-homebred ran down Galileo colts Idaho and Beacon Rock.

Also on the Leopardstown program Jet Setting, a filly by Fast Company from Mean Lae (Johannesburg) made all the running to win the G3 1000 Guineas Trial.

She is the third stakes winner for Fast Company, son of Danehill Dancer. Now Or Never (Bushranger) and Alice Springs (Galileo) filled the placings.

* IN France Quiet Reflection (Showcasing x My Delirium by Haafhd), one of 12 stakes winners by shuttle sire Showcasing (Oasis Dream), won the G3 Prix Sigy at Chantilly.

The 5YO gelding Garlingari (Linngari x Garlinote by Poliglote) followed up his recent win in the G3 Prix Exbury with an easy win Sunday’s G2 Prix d’Harcourt at Chantilly. He is one of five stakes winners by Linngari (Indian Ridge), who stands at Haras du Petit Tellier in France.

* IN Germany Swinging Duke (Duke Of Marmalade x Saldenschwinge by In The Wings) became the 27th stakes winner for the former Coolmore shuttler when he won the Listed Derby Trial at Dusseldorf. Duke Of Marmalade now stands at Drakenstein Stud in South Africa.
