Frankel shared the breeding spotlight with his own sire Galileo on one of UK racing’s biggest days at Ascot on October 21 when he sired his second Group One winner and first in Europe.
The John Gosden-trained 3YO colt Cracksman (Frankel x Rhadegunda by Pivotal) was an emphatic winner of the G1 Champion Stakes on the British Champion’s Day program where Galileo products snared two of the majors.
The 2012 Champion Stakes was the last of 14 wins for the unbeaten Frankel before he was retired to stud.Cracksman had bypassed the G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe on October 1 to target the Champion Stakes and the choice paid off when he showed an impressive turn of foot in soft conditions to defeat Poet’s Word (Poet’s Voice) by seven lengths with Galileo’s multiple G1 winner Highland Reel third.
What a performance!
