Leebaz Another Millionaire For Zabeel

Zabeel’s Karaka sale graduate Leebaz passed $1 million in earnings when he won the G2 AD Hollindale Stakes at the Gold Coast for a second time on Saturday.

The 6YO Leebaz (Zabeel x Polish Princess by Polish Precedent has now had 28 starts for nine wins, six placings and $1.08 million prizemoney. This was his fourth stakes win.

Leebaz is out of the stakes winner and G1-placed mare Polish Princess (Polish Precedent), the dam of three winners from three foals to race.

Her other foals include the G2 winner and G1 placegetter Polish Knight (Encosta De Lago).

Leebaz was bred by Windsor Park Stud and was a NZ$460,000 purchase by Hawkes Racing at the 2011 New Zealand Bloodstock Premier Yearling Sale.

Hawkes also trained Leebaz’s half-brother Polish Knight and returned to the 2014 New Zealand Bloodstock Premier Sale to pay NZ$200,000 for Polish Princess’s yearling filly by Rip Van Winkle.

Now a three-year-old, that filly is named Euro Angel and was a debut winner at Randwick in January for the Hawkes stable.

Polish Princess is a half-sister to the English Listed winner and G1-placed Suez (Green Desert), the dam of G1 Fillies’ Mile heroine Lyric Of Light (Street Cry).

Polish Princess is also a granddaughter of Reprocolor (Jimmy Reppin), dam of G1 winners Cezanne and Colorspin and ancestress of G1 winners Opera House (Sadler’s Wells), Kayf Tara (Sadler’s Wells), Zee Zee Top (Zafonic), Izzi Top (Pivotal) and Necklace (Darshaan).

Polish Princess has a yearling by High Chaparral and a Shamexpress weanling colt. She was served by Savabeel last year.
