The Money Trail – Hawkesbury, Thursday July 6

3 minute read

Racing and Sports finds the best-backed runners in early betting on Thursday’s meeting at Hawkesbury.

Track: Soft 6

Rail: True

First race: 12.13pm

Hollywood Mistress (Race 3) opened just into the red but tumbled right in to $1.26 after being hammered in betting. The filly has only had two well-spaced runs in her career, starting a hot favourite each time. She was close up in a recent barrier trial and is being given another chance to break through.

Brittany (Race 4) has tightened her grip on favouritism at $4 having firmed up more than half a point this morning. She comes into this with the highest career rating, achieved when runner up at Moonee Valley on debut before finishing down the track at stakes level at Flemington. She looks well placed at the provincials after a recent Warwick Farm barrier trial win.

Letsava Win (Race 6) is a well supported favourite at $2.40 after shortening more than a dollar since markets opened. He comes into this with the highest last-start rating when a first up winner at Beaumont and is expected to improve with a run under his belt.

Sir Bastian (Race 7) has halved his opening quote to $4.40 with TopBetta. Hr is a maiden after six runs but has been placed at three of his last four outings and should be hard fit to step out on his home track.

Don't Nicme (Race 8) is being given a good each way chance at $6.50 after opening at a quote well in to double figures. He resumes from a spell after two city trials and has won fresh in the past, having also been successful previously at both the course and the distance.
