The Money Trail – Hawkesbury, September 22

3 minute read

Racing and Sports finds the best-backed runners in early betting on Thursday’s meeting at Hawkesbury.

Too Chic (Race 3) is now a clear second pick in betting at $3.60 having shortened about two points this morning. The mare didn’t miss by much when runner up last time and has yet to finish worse than second in three attempts at this course and distance.

Attack The Line (Race 2) has more than halved his price to $3.50 since markets first opened and at that price is challenging for favouritism. He showed good promise last campaign and should be ready to go first up after two good trials, finishing within 0.6L of Our Boy Malachi at one of them.

Hessdalen (Race 4) is a dominant market leader at $2.35, his price having trimmed up 30 cents this morning. A veteran of just two starts, he was beaten less than a length when placed at this course last time and is expected to continue the progress.

Miss Ballantine (Race 6) has shortened more than a point and a half to a ffixed odds price of $3.50 with TopBetta and at that quote is the second pick in betting. The Chris Waller-trained filly was well beaten on debut but the first two home that day, Tessera and My Country, are now stakes winners and she could be a better horse this time around.

Meiner Freccia (Race 7) opened at each way odds but is the now the top pick in betting at $3.40, two and a half points shorter than his first price. He worked up to staying trips last campaign but has a win and two placings from four fresh runs to suggest he can sprint well resuming today.
