Caulfield hosts midweek stakes racing on Wednesday where Keen Array can build on his last start win.

Keen Array Picture: Racing and Sports

Keen Array was a slender winner of the Testa Rossa Stakes last start at this course and distance.

It continued what has been a strong start to his spring campaign with the gelding resuming with a second to Voodoo Lad on resuming at Moonee Valley.

The son of Choisir ran to a Timeform rating of 107 on resuming and then improved two pounds on that rating last start in the Testa Rossa Stakes.

He can build on those efforts again third up in the Listed Italktravel Stakes (1200m).

A dozen runners contest the seventh event on the card with Keen Array profiling clearly as one of the class entrants.

He will be fitter again third run from a spell and possesses excellent credentials at both the course and distance.

From barrier 1, he should boot up and land in the first four runners.

This prominent position is crucial for the Hayes-Dabernig-trained runner with the race as a whole lacking early speed.

Illustrious Lad profiles as a main danger off a strong first up victory in the Wylie Handicap at Morphettville.

The gelding boasts an excellent first up record however while he has saluted second up in the past, his record isn’t nearly as impressive as it is through five resuming efforts.

Clearly Innocent ventures south off a midfield sixth in the Group 2 Shorts (1100m).

The extra 100m of Wednesday’s sprint will be beneficial considering his best work last campaign came over slightly further sprint journeys still.

Sebring Sun has held his form well since arriving at the Darren Weir stable.

The Sebring entire has placed in three of his four starts, the latest coming over this trip at Moonee Valley behind Fast Cash.

He does however have to turn the tables on Keen Array from when they clashed at Moonee Valley on September 3.

The pair finished second and third respectively in the event with Keen Array holding a three quarter length advantage over the Darren Weir-trained sprinter.

Sebring Sun gets no weight relief for finishing behind Keen Array on that occasion and it is likely Keen Array brings more upside into this contest being earlier in his preparation.

A winner of the Blue Sapphire Stakes at this meeting 12 months ago, Keen Array looks hard to beat returning to the scene.
