The Money Trail – Horsham, October 28

3 minute read

Racing and Sports finds the best-backed runners in early betting on Friday’s meeting at Horsham.

Squadron Leader (Race 2) opened well into double figures with TopBetta but is in a full eight points to $5. The three year-old is yet to place but has run fourth at two of his three runs this campaign and the money push suggests he is going well for this.

Happy Pilgrim (Race 3) is challenging for favouritism at $4.20 after shortening close to a point and a half in early trading. The Darren Weir trained filly ran fourth on debut and natural improvement can see her progress off that today.

Petracca (Race 4) is now a clear favourite with TopBetta at $2.35 after good support saw his opening price slashed by more than half. He has been out of the placings at his last three runs after a first up win but they have all been on rain affected tracks so the good surface could spark improvement.

Patch Adams (Race 7) has been the best backed in the Horsham Cup, taking over as favourite at $3 with TopBetta after shortening more than a point and a half. Most of his starts have been in city company or at stakes level but he showed what he could do away from that company when winning at Swan Hill two runs back and won his only previous start.
