The Money Trail – Armidale, March 20

3 minute read

Racing and Sports finds the best-backed runners in early betting on Monday’s meeting at Armidale.

Naretha (Race 2) is now third pick in the market having firmed more than two points to $4. Her two runs this campaign have been at the provincials so should appreciate country grade and will be ready to peak third up.

Lusitania (Race 3) has taken over as the favourite at $3.50 having tightened almost a point in early betting. The mare should be fitter with a couple of runs under her belt and looks to have found a winnable assignment third up.

Zarabeel (Race 4) is has halved her opening quote $3.50 with TopBetta fixed odds and at that quote is challenging for favouritism. The mare has been racing consistently since joining the new stable, winning two on end before a last-start third at this course and distance.

Bob's Warrior (Race 5) could be worth an each way ticket at $6.50 having shortened more than 13 dollars on his first quote. A first up winner at Walcha, he hit the line well for third here last time so should appreciate the longer trip.

Bowie's Babe (Race 6) is the the one punters want at $3.30 in the small field, in more than a point-and-a-half. The mare has good wet track form so could be ready to produce her best third up.

Carry On Jake (Race 7) offers each way value in the Armidale Cup at $4.80, two points shorter than his opening price this morning. He won the Guyra Cup at this course last time and while taking a step up in trip he should be fitter again third up.
