The Northam Stakes is a Group 3 race run under Set Weights and Penalty conditions for the sprinters at Northam conducted by the Northam Race Club.

The Northam Stakes was run over 1100m but went to 1300m in 2023 as part of the adjusted carnival. It was first run in 2012 and was won by Barakey.

The race has only existed since 2012 but has been won by top WA sprinters.

The Northam Stakes was a Listed race to 2018 when it became a Group 3.

It was the lead up race to the Roma Cup at Belmont but has moved later on.

Elite Street, Barakey and Magnifisio had won the G1 Winterbottom as well as this race.

Fabergino won in 2020 and then came to Melbourne. She contested harder races in the Spring but got going with wins over the summer period at Flemington.

Dom To Shoot would win the G1 Northerly Stakes at the end of the year after taking his Northam Stakes.

The Northam Stakes was worth $200,000 in 2024.

Notable winners of the Northam Stakes include Western Empire (2024), Dom To Shoot (2023), Elite Street (2022), Fabergino (2020), First Among Equals (2017), Magnifisio (2014/2016), Dawn Approach (2015), Beach Express (2013) and Barakey (2012).

The 2024 Northam Stakes was won by Western Empire from Mood Swings and Red Can Man.
