3 minute read

Rebel Dancer looks well placed to claim her second win from as many starts this preparation when she lines up in the Lake Cathie Bowling & Recreation Benchmark 55 Handicap (1106m) at Port Macquarie today.

The Jenny Graham-trained runner is the clear top pick in the race after resuming in outstanding order to win at Kempsey last start, after only being beaten 1.7L by Diamond Earth before going for a spell.

Rebel Dancer steps well up in the weights here at 61kg but gets a much needed 3kg claim from apprentice jockey Kassie Furness.

Furness has ridden six winners this year from 51 starts at just over 11%, placing a further 7 times. Her last two wins have come at this course and she has the ability to get the job done here.

She has drawn barrier 1 and is likely to push forward again and go to the lead as she did last start. She has the highest weight adjusted Timeform rating of the field and is the one to beat.

The resuming Lifesaver Lady looms as the main danger here. She scored a win on debut at Coffs Harbour before going for a spell and was solid in a barrier trial leading into this.

The More Than Ready filly appears to have plenty of ability and will improve on her debut effort. Leading country jockey Robery Thompson takes the ride and will need a bit of luck from barrier 9.

Juste Si also rates a mention in this, placing at both starts this preparation. She stays in the same grade for this and will be fitter third up.

The five-year-old will get the 2kg claim from apprentice jockey and is likely to be fighting out the finish again.

There appears to be a handful of each way chances in this field including last start winners Ma Kettle and Don’t Get me Wrong alon with Happy Rebel and Moss Magic who are both in solid form.

Whilst a fair few of these are in decent form it’s hard to go past Rebel Dancer who rates well and with the 3kg claim is hard to go past.
