King Set To Be Crowned At Canberra

3 minute read

Having gone agonisingly close at his latest effort at Albury the Nick Olive trained Nat King Cu appears well placed to return to the winner’s stall at Canberra on Friday.

While disappointing at the beginning of this preparation his latest effort indicates he is back on track and does see him well placed down in the weights this afternoon.

A victor of four of his 14 career starts to date the son of King Cugat has proven a while between drinks however he gets his best chance in a while to break back into the winner’s stall.

From the gun draw he should be able to position himself either on the speed or just off it in the early stages.

With the rail out nine metres the track is expected to favour horses up on the speed and if this is the case then Nat King Cu should prove very hard to go past in the straight.

GLAD YOU CALLED: Bounced back to form at Warwick Farm last start when finishing second over 1400m. Rates well off the back of that effort and is well placed after the claim. With any luck she shapes as a leading chance on best form.

BACK TO ZERO: Continued his good run of form at Albury last start when only narrowly beaten over 1400m. He has been absolutely flying this time in and shapes as one of the main hopes.

FALZZON: Hasn't been disgraced in three runs back this time in and is clearly capable if able to produce his best form. Steps out on his home track for the first time and could pay to keep safe.

OSCAR TOSCA: Chases a hat-trick of wins here following a game performance to salute at Dubbo last start. Harder here but is clearly on the improve and can work his way into the multiples.

MICALONG: Almost caused a massive boil over when a close second behind Photon Willie last start. Usually takes a run or two before hitting his straps but a market watch is strongly advised.

ONE MORE GRAND: Failed to hold his form when taken to town last start and finished towards the tail of the field. Form prior at this track was solid and wouldn't be surprised to see him bounce right back here.

MOORINGS CAPITAL: Continued her superb record fresh here last start when scoring narrowly over 1300m. Does tend to hold her form second up and must be respected in this line up.

SEBONY: Took advantage of the drop back in grade last start when proving too good at Cooma. However a lot tougher here today and hard to see that winning form being repeated.

THE CONQUEROR: Form last time in was okay but would have to question why he changed stables if all was well. Prefer to see at this stage.

QUICHANG: Has struggled in both starts back this time in albeit he is proven to take a couple of runs before hitting his straps. Drawn well and could be a quaddie blow-out.

SPANISH SHOES: Has been racing right around the mark of late but does appear tested taking on this company. Drawn well but would still prefer to see.

BIG RED CAT: Racing in fair form of late but still not good enough to be considered a leading hope in this. Others are preferred.
