A Message For Punters

The powerful Chris Waller stable looks set for a big afternoon at Randwick today with several well fancied runners.

Telepathic Picture: Racing and Sports

Timeform weight adjusted ratings suggest the former NZ trained mare Telepathic who contests the The Last Post Bench Mark 90 Handicap over 1600m could be one of his best chances.

Since coming under Waller’s care, Telepathic has never been far away from the money, except at her last start in the group one Queen Of The Turf Stakes at Randwick behind Amanpour where she was forced to cover an enormous amount of extra ground before fading late.

However her previous runs were all good form pointers to her prospects today.

After winning at Randwick first up over 1400m in Bench Mark 85 class, she was close up behind Adorabeel in the G3 Aspiration Quality over 1600m before a close third to Scratchy Bottom in the G3 Epona Stakes over 1900m at Rosehill.

Today Telepathic gets the benefit of a huge class drop plus winning rider Jason Collett regains the mount. She should enjoy a cosy run and handles heavy ground giving her every chance to return to the winners list.

The hardest for her to best in the David Vandyke trained mare Any Day Will Do, a handy type who has been in great form since resuming.

A speedy mare, Any Day Will Do resumed with a solid third behind Mahican over 1350m then finished close up behind Catkins in the G2 Emancipation Stakes over 1500m at Rosehill.

Last start she led and was run down late over 1600m at Warwick Farm.

Despite rising in class today she does tumble in weight and has Kathy O’Hara in the saddle – one of the best front running riders in the game.

It would come as no surprise to see O’Hara try and steal the race with the scatchings of the only other two pace runners in the race.

Top weight Intimate Moment comes off some excellent form lines and her fourth behind Amanpour in the G1 Queen Of The Turf Stakes last start is a clear case in point.

However she has paid the price for that form and had to contend with 59kgs here, something that may not be easy considering the heavy track conditions.
