Dane Set To Thunder Around Sandown

3 minute read

Dane Thunder looks well set up heading into the seventh race at Sandown today, a Benchmark 64 over 1300m.

Dane Thunder is third up after a pair of placed efforts this time in, the most recent coming at Moonee Valley behind the talented Thames Court.

We have already seen that form hold up strongly with Thames Court stepping out at Moonee Valley on Friday night and winning a Group 3 contest in good style.

Dane Thunder was rock solid behind her last time out and heads to Sandown ready to peak on the back of that.

Dane Thunder has only had four starts, winning his first in good style before running a solid race in a good race behind Kracken at Cranbourne before a spell.

After resuming with a solid second at Ballarat, Dane Thunder posted a career best at Moonee Valley last time and is set to go to a new level today which makes him a fairly attractive betting proposition in a race that, while competitive, looks well within his range.

The main danger could well be off the same formline. Rich Charm was only first up at Moonee Valley and didn't finish far from Thames Court and Dane Thunder.

He should be open to good improvement himself being just three starts into a career that has shown some promise.

He has run in high-rating races relative to their class in all three runs to this point and looks well equipped to handle the extra 100m and the depth of rival in today's contest.

Loyalty Man has had a little bit more racing than that pair but he also has to be considered promising.

Loyalty Man was solid first up a break at the same course and distance that he tackles today, finishing third to a good horse in Popovich.

Given time since then, Loyalty Man should come on for the run and his best form from last campaign pointed to him being one set for better things.

He was just over a length away in a Stutt Stakes at Moonee Valley and his maiden win was impressive - running away from the front to win by a margin over the Bendigo mile.

Early favourite for today's race is Nat's The Boss but he faces a tougher task than the one that he handled first up at Pakenham.

He won well and will no doubt improve for the run but he will have to. Racing And Sports Ratings suggest that he has something to find on the Dane Thunder and co in terms of form and upside.

Taking him on frees up plenty of market space for a good bet on our top selections.

Best of luck and happy punting.
