Brisbane Best: Sunshine Coast - November 10

3 minute read

Promising sprinter Awesome Pluck can frank the form of the inaugural Kosciuszko by winning at Sunshine Coast on Saturday.

A last-start third in the rich country sprint at Randwick, Awesome Pluck lines up in the Render Centre Class 3 Plate over 1000m.

Trained at Port Macquarie by Jenny Graham, Awesome Pluck has yet to finish worse than fourth and showed his talent as a three-year-old when runner up to eventual final winner Victorem in a heat of the NSW Country Championships.

He missed the final due to a setback but made his return in the Kosciuszko, looming as the winner until his condition gave out late on the heavy track and finishing three-quarters of a length away.

Given four weeks to get over that effort, he should be a fitter horse and he is suited back to 1000m having won both attempts at the trip.

Jockey Ben Looker has the task of finding the right position from the wide draw but Awesome Pluck looks well placed in a class three and has the talent to win with even luck.

Sunshine Coast.

Consistent gelding Remarkable Son launches his second campaign in the Caloundra Produce Benchmark 70 over 1400m later in the program.

The four-year-old made a good impression at his maiden preparation, scoring three wins and two placings from six runs, all at this course.

He worked up to longer distances later in his campaign - including a last-start second over 1800m in a higher graded race than this - but he is unbeaten in two attempts at 1400m and won his only fresh outing.

Resuming after months away from the track, he has been prepared for his return with a low-key trial and is likely to have developed with maturity .

He could be a horse capable of racing through his grades and offers each way value first up.
