Quarter Back To Soar

3 minute read

The Michael Clements trained Quarter Back returned with a bang last start and appears well placed to go back to back this evening.

Due to contest the seventh event, Quarter Back won well first up, when returning from a short break (68 days).

Aided by a gun ride from Daniel Moor, Quarter Back held his position along the rail and settled midfield.

Popped off the fence entering the straight, Moor peeled Quarter Back to the centre to make his run.

Leader Makkem Lad gave a good kick, before Quarter Back really knuckled down in the last 200m.

Levelling up approaching the 100m, Quarter Back asserted his authority late, drawing clear to score by just under a length.

Only lightly raced, Quarter Back has now notched up three wins from eight starts and remains open to further improvement.

Tested against one of his Singapore's best sprinters in Bold Thruster last preparation, Quarter Back wasn't disgraced and should be better suited over 1400m tonight.

Continuing to mature, he rates well when assessing Timeform weight adjusted ratings and has drawn to get a lovely run for Duric.

He’s on an upward spiral and should prove very hard to beat.

Last start winner Boy Wonder is also trending the right way and looms as a major threat.

A handy winner first up, Bow Wonder failed to deliver second up, before bouncing back to winning form at this course and distance last start.

Marked up to his peak, he is back on track for the Saimee stable and if able to hold his form, he is sure to make his presence felt from the good draw.

The Cliff Brown trained Baffert failed to fire a shot last start, however he is clearly better than that and it could pay to forgive one bad run.

His first up performance was very good and the fact Rodd sticks is another reason to be forgiving.

He has since trialled well and suspect the real Baffert will stand up this evening.

Of the rest the consistent Lord Of The Cloud appears the next in line.

From his last five starts, he has finished second on three occasions and only looks to have to hold his form to be right around the mark again.

Good luck and happy punting.
