Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for December 23.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Bathurst, Tamworth, Wangaratta and Mackay.
BEAUTY EDGE (1) smart Hellbent colt who broke through for a sharp maiden victory over 1300m at Dubbo on December 9. Returned good figures on that occasion and he has the upside to win again. SHADOW DANE (3) swamped them late with a dominant win over 1300m at Dubbo on December 9. Gets a similar set-up today and carries the big weights well. SHERIFF (5) last two runs have been below par and go on earlier runs in the prep when assessing his chances. Down in the weights and expecting more. FANCY GARTER (8) broke through at start five with a fast-finishing 2.25 len maiden victory over 1200m at Warren on December 13. Confidence is high now and not to be underestimated.
SELECTIONS: Beauty Edge to win again.
As a FREE Racing and Sports offer, below is the Bathurst Computer Card.
TAMWORTH: RACE 5 @ 4:20 PM
Flying mare YUKAN ROSE (6) has won two from two this prep since transferring to the Glen Milligan stable. Most impressive last time when she ran them off their legs over 900m at Newcastle. Can cross from the wide alley and repeat the dose. MYSTERY LAD (4) won a couple of Benchmark races then stepped up to open company over 1100m at Armidale last time and did a reasonable job to finish third as favourite. Loves this circuit and is a major player dropping back to a BM82. Veteran STANDING BEAR (9) has disappointed recently in longer races. Worth another chance from a nice gate back to 1000m. VERY SHARP (5) is a strong fresh performer capable of running a big race at his first outing in two months. WHO GOES THERE (10) weakened over 1200m behind Mystery Lad last time. Far better off at this trip so watch for sharp improvement.
SELECTIONS: Sticking with Yukan Rose.
WANGARATTA: RACE 5 @ 3:30 PM
Wide open but easy to like the prospects of GO ATTI GO (3). Has had just four starts and resumes in easier grade but does boast good fresh-up for a win and a placing from two tries. Trip suits and in this field looks very well placed. JAYZEAL (7) showed little early speed last start and failed to come on in the straight when sixth, beaten 6 lengths, over 1523m at Moonee Valley. This much easier though and no surprise to see a return to form. CANNY DEFENSE (5) doesn't win out of turn but is racing in career best form at present. Winning rider aboard and can run a big race at value. CELNADO (6) wasn't far away second-up and is a third-up winner. Looks a likely improver. STAR BLAZER (1) was a poor run latest but rates strongly on the previous effort and change of rider this time. Has the ability and can atone.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Go Atti Go fresh.
MACKAY: RACE 2 @ 3:13 PM
UNDERRATED (3) hasn't done much wrong with a win and two seconds from three outings to start the career and looks the runner in this field with the most upside. Should be going very close again. WOODSTOCK ROCK (4) has a win and a second from two starts around this circuit and is yet to put in a poor one. Bold showing expected. TIME TO PROPHET (1) strips fitter third-up from the spell and should be ready to peak now. Cannot be left out of calculations. SCRUB CHAIN (2) resumed in winning order at Rockhampton and will be ready to go right on with the job now, Worth including. CARE TAKER (6) broke the maiden status last time out and may earn some minor money.
SELECTIONS: Underrated to salute.
