MACAU: Hot Duo Add More WIns

3 minute read

The combination of Alan Tam and Jerome Lermyte continued on their winning ways at Taipa with a treble at the weekend, with a double on the sand Friday night and a win on the turf Saturday.

The duo have really been on a roll in recent weeks and with plenty of well graded horses in the Tam yard, a nice finish to the season is on the cards.

Australian import Elderly Paradise got the combination off the a flying start in race two when he led throughout for a good win in the Class 3 & 4 over 1300 metres.

The gelding had displayed some talent in three trails prior to Friday night and looks above average judging by his win.

By Danewin from the Zabeel mare Kali Symtzer, Elderly Paradise had trailed smartly at Pakenham in Victoria running a nice second place under the alias of Danewin Smytzer before being purchased by Alan Tam for Macau.

In what was no doubt the most popular win over the weekend, a crowd of over 30 people assembled in the mounting yard with connections for the winning photo.

Soldier of Fortune gave the pair a double for the night when he stormed home over the top of his opponents to win the Class 3 over 1050 metres.

A son of Hawk Wing, Soldier of Fortune arrived in the enclave with an impressive record up to 2000 metres from Ireland and after winning two races on the sand in Macau at 1500 and 1600 metres, has found a new lease of life since being switched back to the sprint distances by Tam.

After winning over 1000 metres on the turf in April Tam has kept the gelding fresh for his assignments with the five year old not running a bad race since.

Blue Jade Gorden gave Tam and Lermyte three for the weekend with a flying finish to down Scandicmaster (Manoel Nunes) in the Class 4 & 5 over 1500 metres on the turf Saturday.

Unfortunately for Lermyte his winning ways have been put on hold briefly with the young Frenchman copping a one day suspension and a $20,000 HKD fine for careless riding in the first of the day the

Maiden Handicap.
