A busy travel schedule will continue for southern rider Courtney Barnes on Wednesday.

She partnered the well-performed Include in Saturday’s Gr.1 New Zealand Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes and the 20-year-old will return north for apprentices’ day at Te Awamutu on Wednesday.

Barnes has enjoyed an outstanding association with the Brian and Shane Anderton-trained Include, having ridden her in all 10 of her career wins and into sixth place at Te Aroha.

“She went pretty well again and she just got a little bit lost around the corner in her first time right-handed,” Barnes said.

While Include has gone home to prepare for the Gr.3 Coca-Cola Canterbury Gold Cup at Riccarton, Barnes is looking forward to returning north for a good book of rides at the Waipa meeting.

From a handy barrier, the lightly-tried Dinah Lee looks a strong chance for her in the Stewart Alexander Golf 1150.

The filly was third in her only juvenile appearance behind the talented Azkadellia and has weighed in from two subsequent starts this season behind the progressive pair of Snowdrop and Perfect Fit.

What’s Up Alf is Barnes’ ride in the Te Ata Resthome 1400 and the gelding is another consistent type with five cheques banked from as many starts.

She is also booked to partner the first starter Leica Dreim in the Te Awamutu Courier 1150, Ming’s Girl in the Nigel Pitcon Electrical 1580 and recent placegetter Eyesonyou in the NZB Insurance Pearl Series Race.
