English Derby-winning jockey Alan Munro has been granted a Club's Licence Jockey's Licence by the Singapore Turf Club.
Munro, 44, has been granted a three-month licence to ride in Singapore from July 1, 2011 through until September 30, 2011.
With more than 20 years' experience as a jockey, Munro won the 1991 English and Irish Derby's aboard Generous, who also provided him with victory in the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Stakes in the same year.
He also claimed the 2006 Irish 2000 Guineas aboard Araafa among 15 Group 1 wins that have been claimed in six different countries.
In 1994 Munro left the UK to ride in Asia where he rode with success in Hong Kong and Japan as well as having a stint in South Africa. In 2000, he took a riding sabbatical taking up karate where he fought on the international stage before resuming his riding career in New Zealand in 2005.
After spending a year on the sidelines following a head injury suffered in 2006, Munro resumed riding in the UK in 2008 before heading overseas again. He is currently licensed to ride in Qatar.
Munro currently goes to scale at 53.5kg.
Granted extensions from July 1, 2011 through until December 31, 2011 are current Club's Licence Jockey's Licence riders Olivier Placais, Jose Verenzuela and Ronnie Stewart while Vlad Duric has been granted a Club's Licence Jockey's Licence from August 1, 2011 through until December 31, 2011.
Duric currently sits atop the Jockey's Premiership Table for the 2011 season having ridden 46 winners at a strike-rate of 21.2%.
Verenzuela, who commenced his stint in Singapore in March, has ridden 18 winners at a strike-rate of 23.38% and sits in seventh position.
Placais sits in eighth place on the premiership table with 17 wins while Stewart rounds out the top 10 at this stage of the season on 16 winners.
